Cedar Mulch and Clean Beds Make a Yard Feel New Again

Beds get away from you fast. A little overgrowth here, some weeds creeping in there, and before long the whole yard feels unkempt - even if the bones of the landscaping are solid. That's exactly the situation we walked into on this one.

The structure here is genuinely nice. A curved retaining wall wraps around a center island bed with a weeping tree, arborvitae, low ornamental shrubs, and perennials. Good design, good plants. It just needed some attention. We trimmed everything back, pulled the weeds, and cleaned up the edges so the plantings could actually breathe and show themselves off properly.

Then came the cedar mulch. Fresh mulch does a few things at once - it suppresses new weed growth, holds moisture in the soil, and gives the whole bed that clean, finished look. The dark color of cedar mulch especially makes the greens of the plants pop. It's one of those details that pulls everything together without being complicated.

We always say the best landscaping is the kind that looks intentional. When your beds are trimmed, mulched, and tidy, the whole property feels cared for.
